Describing Policy

I recently had to provide a succinct description of the Policy, Standard, Guideline, Procedure taxonomy and descriptions on short notice.  Here is what I came up with:

  1. Policy: Do good stuff
  2. Standards: This is how we’re going to measure doing good stuff
  3. Guidelines: If you’re not sure what good stuff looks like, here’s a hint
  4. Procedures: To accomplish good stuff check the following boxes in the prescribed order

I think it was a pretty good elevator speech explanation.  How would you change it?
